Re: Post Hurricane Irma Clean-Up and Repairs of SIA Common Areas
Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we deal with the clean-up and repair of SIA common areas following Hurricane Irma:
Yard Clean-up
- SIA is registered with the County to allow vehicles authorized by the County to come on our private roads to pick up yard debris. Those of you who were here last year and experienced Hurricane Matthew know it will take the County several weeks to accomplish this.
- As you clean up the debris in your yard and on the street in front of your property, please place the yard waste in your usual landscaping debris containers and place these containers in front of your property, being sure not to impede traffic. Yard debris may also be place in reasonable size piles in front of your property, again being careful not to spill out into the road.
- The Board will hire a landscaping company for clean-up of the SIA common areas. Again, please be aware it may take weeks for this to be accomplished as all landscapers will be inundated with requests for hurricane clean-up.
SIA Beach Pathways and Stairs:
- Both E. Shell and E. Pebble Path beach accesses are open. Both sets of steps are secure and can be used. However, please be aware, a great deal of beach sand was washed away. While these beach stairs are intact, there is a drop of 2-3 feet between the last stair step and the beach. This will be corrected as the sand returns to the beach over the next few weeks.
- Barefoot beach access was blocked by part of a fallen tree and had significant landscape debris along the pathway. But thanks to Ron Lowe and his chain saw, together with a crew of SIA volunteers this beach access was cleared earlier today. The E. Barefoot stairs are stable and secure for use.
