Summerplace homes and properties appear to have survived Hurricane Nicole fairly well even though the eye of the storm went right over our heads. There has been a four home small cluster power outage on E. Shell and E. Barefoot and some power outages in non-SIA Summerplace homes that have been resolved.
The beaches, unfortunately, suffered greatly. The beach lost about 8 feet of sand and is only reachable from Moss Beach and only at low tide. We have 2 more high tide cycles to go through before the sand may start to return in its natural flow from North to South.
All the beach stairs along the SIA portion of the seawall are damaged and impassable. The E. Shell stairs, damaged during hurricane Ian, are gone. The E. Barefoot stairs lost the lower third of the staircase and posts. The E. Pebble Path stairs also lost the lower section of stairs and posts and the inner rail. We will address Hurricane Nicole repairs as an added agenda item at the annual meeting.
We are very fortunate that this hurricane was barely a Category 1 with 75mph peak winds, not the 150mph winds that Ian brought to West Florida.
We are still holding our Annual meeting this Saturday Nov. 12 at 10am in the driveway at 1995 W. Barefoot Pl.
If you have not mailed in your ballot and voting certificate, you can bring them to the meeting.
John Lehnhardt, SIA President
