This is a reminder that the FDOT public information workshops are this week and will regard in large part alterations to the intersection of Route 510 and U.S. Highway 1. Local residents and neighbors are encouraged to engage with this subject, participate in the workshops and relay preferences to FDOT directly. Based on the information provided by FDOT, Orchid’s Town Council has a unanimous preference for what is being referred to as Alternative 2, which features a flyover for east- and west-bound traffic on Route 510 over the railroad and intersection. Alternative 1 is an at-grade solution that entails adding multiple lanes to increase the capacity of the intersection.
