Last night Tuesday February 4, 2020 at an open meeting of the SIA Board of Directors, concerns were expressed about increased trespassing and some vandalism that has occurred recently on E. Pebble Path. It is believed the primarily cause of the tresspassing is short term renters from W. Pebble Path.
The Board approved the temporary use of a lock on the beach access gate and surveillance cameras on E. Pebble Path for a test period from 2 weeks to a month. During this time we will use the camera data to assess the effectiveness of the gate lock, measure the level of trespassing occurring and possibly identify those doing the tresspassing.
Our plan is to place one camera so it covers the A1A road entry to E. Pebble Path and one to view the gate from the access point to the beach path.
The lock will a four digit mechanical tumbler lock. It will be installed today, Wed. Feb. 5 or tomorrow, Thursday Feb. 6 or as soon as we can get the notice out to the residents of E. Pebble Path. The cameras will have to wait until we have appropriate warning signs, but they should be in place by this weekend.
If you have any questions or are an SIA member not a resident of E. Pebble Path and want to use the E. Pebble Path beach crossover, please contact SIA Board President John Lehnhardt at 772-571-5980 or johnlehnhardt1@gmail.com to get the lock code.
