Notice of 2024 Annual Meeting
The Annual Meeting of the Summerplace Improvement Association will take place this year on Saturday, November 9, 2024. Please mark your calendars and plan to join us. Details regarding the 2024 Annual Meeting will be sent to all SIA members in the fall.
Call for Nominations for the SIA Board Board of Directors for 2024-2025
The election for all five SIA Board of Director seats is held yearly at the annual meeting in November. Details on the nominating process are provided in the enclosed 2024-5 Call for Nominations from Ed Seemann, Chair of the Nominating Committee. This invitation provides any SIA member with the opportunity to express their interest in being considered by the Nominating Committee as a candidate for the SIA Board of Directors.
Please read Ed’s enclosed letter and contact Ed with any questions on this process or to discuss your interest in serving on the SIA Board.
Lawsuit Settlement
The ongoing lawsuit filed by a member of the Association (the “Plaintiff”) against the Summerplace Improvement Association, Inc. (the “Association”), certain members of the Association’s Board of Directors, and other individuals has finally been settled, dismissed with prejudice, and closed by Court Order as of May 24, 2024. This means all claims within the lawsuit are now settled and cannot be re-litigated in a court of law.
Due to disclosure limitations agreed to by the parties, the terms of the settlement were outlined in a letter sent in June to all SIA members and will not be published on this website. It is the desire of all parties to put all differences aside and move forward amicably as a community.
New Neighbors
1905 W. Barefoot was sold by Mary and Jerry Beasman to Robert Connolly, who also owns 1900 W. Shell Lane. The Connolly’s will be part time residents and rent it out part time.
The vacant lot at 1990 W. Barefoot Pl. was sold by the Klubes to Loren Anne Smith of Southfield, MA. She is planning to build a house on the lot and live here at least part time.

Re: 2024-5 Nominating Process for SIA Board of Directors &
Call for Nominations
Each November, the SIA membership elects a Board of Directors to represent them on matters concerning the Summerplace community. This year’s meeting and election of members of the SIA Board of Directors will be Saturday, November 9, 2024.
I have been asked to chair the Nominating Committee for the SIA Board of Directors for 2024-5. I will serve alongside committee members Jean Etzel, Carol Glade, Jean Cyr and Roseann Dlugozs, who have all agreed to be on the 2024-5 Nominating Committee.
All members of the association are eligible to serve on the board of directors, and a member may nominate himself or herself as a candidate for the board with the following exceptions:
- A person who is delinquent in the payment of any fee, fine, or other monetary obligation to the association on the day that he or she could last nominate himself or herself or be nominated for the board may not seek election to the board, and his or her name shall not be listed on the ballot.
- A person who has been convicted of any felony in this state or in a United States District or Territorial Court, or has been convicted of any offense in another jurisdiction which would be considered a felony if committed in this state, may not seek election to the board and is not eligible for board membership unless such felon’s civil rights have been restored for at least 5 years as of the date on which such person seeks election to the board.
I encourage SIA members to contact me, or any member of the Nominating Committee, if they would like to serve on the Board or nominate a neighbor. Additionally, each nominee for the SIA Board should complete the Candidate Information Form printed on the back of this letter and submit this to the Nominating Committee for consideration of their candidacy.
Nominations and completed Candidate Information Forms should be sent to the committee no later than August 15, 2024.
On September 15, 2024, the Nominating Committee will submit a slate of eligible names for this year’s voting ballot. We encourage your participation and look forward to hearing from you soon.
