Minutes: Open SIA Board Meeting Saturday Oct. 10, 2026 at 11am in the driveway at 1991 W. Barefoot Place
Attending: President Flax, Sec/Treas Lehnhardt, Board members Garrard and Melchiori, member Tammie Lowe
The meeting was called to order at 11am.
Vote on ARC recommendation for approval of Pool House request for 1911 W. Shell Lane
The project was reviewed with drawings available. The ARC had met with the applicant at the site to review the plans. The plans had been submitted a few years ago including a connecting trellis system to the house. However, it was realized that the trellis system would require the removal of oak trees. The ARC recommended the pool house be approved without the Trellis system to maintain the integrity of the landscaping and trees.
It was moved, seconded and unanimously approved to allow the plan to move ahead as submitted without the trellis system.
Other topics Discussed:
Lil Fox has stepped own from the ARC. President Flax will ask the current remaining members, Steve Melchiori and Andy Dlugosz if they are willing to stay on for next year. The Board will seek another person for the third position to be announced at the annual meeting.
President Flax proposed a discussion at the annual meeting regarding having an external architect participate in the ARC review of new homes. This would be paid for by the applicant. This person could not be a regular member of the ARC unless they were an SIA Member. We do not have any architect members to our knowledge. The Board felt this could be discussed at the annual meeting.
Vote counters – Secretary/ Treasurer Lehnhardt will seek out vote counters for the annual meeting Board election.
Annual meeting Food organizer – still looking for someone.
The process for review and voting on the ARC proposed new Guidelines was discussed. It was agreed that the board would elicit concerns from the attending members on any aspect of the proposed Guidelines for open discussion. If concerns raised were expressed by multiple members, individual sections of the Guidelines could be voted on independently with the majority of the members attending deciding whether the item could be excluded from the final document. The document remaining after this process will then be voted on in total, with majority ruling. The document will become effective at the end of the annual meeting. If the new ARC Guidelines are not approved, the existing Guidelines will remain in place.
