Change in yard waste removal by Waste Management – starting this coming week of Sept. 29, yard waste will be picked up by Waste Management in the new brown bins with the orange lid only. They claim they will not pick up any yard waste not in those specific bins.
This could be a big issue for many of our members who have large amounts of yard waste weekly and usually have multiple bins out for pickup.
President Flax obtained a bid of $630 for a month from our mowing contractor North Pacific Landscaping (Javier) to do a weekly surplus yard waste pickup for the month of October. We have a surplus of about $1000 in our landscape budget to fund this. It was moved, seconded and approved unanimously by the Board of Directors at the last open meeting to have Javier come each Saturday morning in October and pick up whatever yard waste was not removed by Waste Management.
We will then see how things go with this approach, discuss it with membership at the annual meeting Nov. 8 and decide at that time if this service is needed and wanted and whether to include it in our annual budget for next year.
So, starting next week, leave your un-picked up ward waste in front of your property on Saturday morning for pickup by Javier.
Also, starting next week recycling waste will be picked up on Thursday instead of Friday. Yard waste and house trash will still be picked up on Friday.
